Reserves fall short against Bombers

Kiama were in the box seat to clinch a Round 1 victory over Bay & Basin, however some missed chances late in the game saw the visitors leave with a 10-point victory on Saturday morning at Bonaira Oval.

The Power were accurate in front of goals for most of the match, at one stage having 10.0 recorded on the scoreboard, before some fourth quarter nerves saw the reserves fall short in their 11.5 (71) to 12.9 (81) loss on Saturday.

The Power were left to rue two missed late opportunities to take a critical first step on their road to redemption, after Tony Grady missed a potential sealer when ahead by one point, with the Bombers immediately going the length of the field to lead the game with only minutes remaining.

Not long after, Michael Williams found himself running towards goals with the chance to kick the Power ahead, but also missed.

It was a disappointing result for Kiama, as Bay & Basin sealed the victory when they kicked a goal with 30 seconds to go in front of the Power clubhouse.

Jason Pavser was immense on debut for the Power, kicking three goals in a Best On Ground performance, with key forward Jayden Andrews kicking four majors in his accurate goalkicking display.
