Auskick is for boys and girls aged between 4 to 8. Auskick is designed to teach kids the basics of Australian Rules football in a fun and safe environment. Auskickers have one fun “training” session each week and then play an Auskick modified rules game against an opposition team on a Sunday.
The junior competition involves teams in U9s, U11s, U13s, U15s and U17s.
The U9’s do not play for points and scores are not recorded or registered. Its intended to be a stepping stone between Auskick and U11’s which is the first age group that plays for competition points and has finals.
The U9’s, U11’s and U13’s all play in the Illawarra competition. This includes teams from:
- Albion Park
- Port Kembla
- Northern Districts
- Southern Highlands
In 2017, the U15’s and U17’s will play in a ‘crossover’ competition made up of teams from the Illawarra and Shoalhaven Leagues. The Shoalhaven League includes teams from:
- Batemans Bay
- Bay and Basin
Not all Clubs have teams in every age group so its not always possible for all our teams to be at the same venue or playing the same opposition team. Kiama is presently the only club in the Illawarra that has multiple teams in more than one age group, with two U11’s and two U13’s teams. These teams are occasionally drawn to compete against each other, which are always a great occasion to savor for the club, players, parents and spectators.
The eligibility of a player for a particular age group is based on the player’s age at the commencement of the calendar year. For example, if a player is 8 years old at 1 January, he / she is eligible to play U9s. If a player is 9 years old at 1 January, he / she is eligible to play U11’s.
All coaches at our club hold appropriate AFL coaching certificates. For a list of current coaches please click on the “Coaches” tab under the “Teams” menu.
If you are interested in assisting with coaching at our club, please contact the club President or Vice-President.
New players to the club will be provided with a pair of club shorts and socks at no additional cost (following payment of full registration). These can be obtained or ordered on Registration Day or from the Canteen on at the first home game. Additional pairs of shorts and/or socks, as well as caps, beanies, polo shirts and hoodies, are available for purchase at the Canteen.
Playing Jerseys will be allocated to each player by the Team Manager at the commencement of the season. These are to be returned to the club at the end of season.
