Swans Academy Success for Power Boys

The Swans Academy Open Athlete Assessment Trials were held in early July. Hundreds of players in 10, 11 and 12 year age groups from all Swans zones in NSW attended to compete for a small number of places in the Swans Academy Program.

On behalf of the Club I congratulate all Kiama Power players who traveled to Sydney to attend the trials.

I’m delighted to confirm that two of our boys, Toby Trudgett and Elias Oldfield have been accepted into the Academy. They add to a growing list of Power players over the last several years who have made it to this level.

TOBY – for those of you who know Toby, his acceptance into the Academy should be no surprise. Whether its Aussie Rules, Cricket or Nippers, Toby is a talented athlete and demonstrates all the right attributes on and off the field. He has a competitive nature, but always balanced with good sportsmanship. He shows great courage on the field to frequently win the football for his team. He trains hard and is always willing to learn and develop his skills. Very well deserved Toby.

ELIAS – Eli’s story is a pretty amazing and inspirational one. Prior to undertaking the Academy trials, Eli had played only seven games of competitive Aussie Rules. He has astonished many of us with his ability to adapt so quickly and thrive in this difficult sport. He goes about his business quietly but has speed to burn and loves to attack the footy regardless of what’s coming at him. His skills for a first year player are exceptional and he’ll just continue to get better. A great effort Eli.

Congratulations also to Rod and Craig as the coaches of the two boys.
